I am a Director in our Management Team, and a Project Team Leader.
I have many years of experience in Structural and Civil Engineering, having progressed from trainee technician on the drawing board, to Chartered Structural Engineer.
I have delivered on a diverse range of Projects including Edinburgh Castle Visitors Centre, Edinburgh University Hugh Robson Building Refurbishment, Perth College Student Residences, Lothian Buses Longstone Depot, Scotsman Steps Stonework Conservation Project, Craiglockhart Sports Centre, Spartans Community Football Facility, and Royston Community Centre.
A career highlight has been co-publishing a research paper on the subject of ductility of concrete frames, a feature of earthquake resistant design, and presenting at an International Conference on Advances in Structural Engineering and Mechanics, in the City of Pusan, South Korea.
I have also had a role in developing a framework for the Conservation of concrete framed structures, along with Edinburgh World Heritage Trust and Historic Scotland, for the Grade B Listed Canongate Apartments, Edinburgh, by Sir Basil Spence Architect.
My undergraduate training incorporated Architectural Studies as a specialism, and I am passionate about the structural engineering contribution towards good architecture.
I have a keen desire in delivering on the Architects vision, whilst bringing a practical focus on buildability and cost-effectiveness.
My favourite City is Barcelona, reflecting my architectural appreciations, and, probably unsurprisingly, my favourite building is the Barcelona Pavilion, by Ludwig Mies Van Der Roe.
My other keen personal interests are playing music, currently being in the long running process of recording the difficult first album !, and also Hillwalking and climbing in the Scottish Mountains having a great love of wild places.
