Bonnington Gaelic School, Edinburgh

Bonnington Gaelic School, Edinburgh

Client: The City of Edinburgh Council
Architect: The City of Edinburgh Council
Cost: £3.3m

Refurbishment, repair and upgrading of a Victorian school to house the first dedicated Gaelic school in Edinburgh.

This involved the stabilising of the existing fleche towers which were at risk of collapse.  New ramps and stairs were installed to enable fully inclusive access to the school.

The existing layout was remodelled to include the removal of load bearing walls and formation of new openings.

The project was carried out within a tight programme to allow the school to open on time.
